Creating the Components
Index
Overview
The next step in creating a tour package is creating the components and the top level package. These components need to be created in a way that reflects each resource.
This tutorial will create and configure the different components required for the tour including the top level package. Please Note: The components being created are based on the previous tutorial that planned and structured the package. For more information, please refer Planning the tour package.
Creating OW4D1N - Top Level Package
OW4D1N is the top level package and tour code that reservationists will use to book the tour. To create the tour, go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> New Day Tour...
Tour Code = OW4D1N
Tour Name = Open Water 4 Day 1 Night Learn to Dive
Operator = Tutorial Company
Schedule = 09:00am
Save the day tour. ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered. Re-enter the tour and go to the Advanced tab...
In this tab, make sure the following are enabled:
Use New Price Matrix
Can have Components - Enabling this option allows the tour to have components connected which are used for resource manifesting, resource availability and invoicing.
Disable Availability Check - Enabling this option disable the checking of availability in this tour but does not disable availability checks of underlying components and bus routes.
Click Price Matrix...
Click Set Range...
Enter the From Date and To Date...
Set Cost as 0, Sell as 250 and Levy as 0...
Select Adult in under Type, Standard under Basis and Standard under SubBasis...
Click Save Range and close the Price Matrix screen...
Save the day tour. This is all that can be configured before any of the other components are created and configured.
Creating CLASS - Component
CLASS is the first two days of Pool and Theory Lessons. Rather than create two components, one for each day, ResPax is able to use one component with two different bases. Go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> New Day Tour...
Tour Code = CLASS
Tour Name = Pool and Theory Class
Operator = Tutorial Company
Schedule = 09:00am
Save the day tour. ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered. Re-enter the tour and go to the Advanced tab...
In this tab, make sure the following are enabled:
Use New Price Matrix
Component Only - Enabling this options removes a reservationist's ability to book this tour directly without a top level. This tour will only be able to be added as a component.
Disable Availability Check - Enabling this option disable the checking of availability in this component but does not disable availability checks of any other components and bus routes connected.
Click Price Matrix...
Click Edit Basis...
Click on the basis named Standard and in the Basis field, change Standard to Day 1...
Click Ok...
Click Add New in the Basis screen...
Enter Day 2 in the Basis field...
Click Add New and enter Standard into Sub Basis Desc...
Click Ok and re-enter the subbasis by clicking on Standard...
Check Default and click Ok...
Click Ok in the Basis screen and close the Edit Basis screen...
Close the Price Matrix screen and Save the day tour. This is all that can be configured before any of the other components are created and configured.
Creating VESSEL - Component
VESSEL is the component used to represent Tutorial Vessel which takes the passengers to the reef and back. As the direction of travel does not mean anything in the ResPax database, one component can be used as the resources for both trips, to the reef and to the shore. This component will, also, have the availability set to it as the availability of the tour is only limited by how many Tutorial Vessel can hold. Go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> New Day Tour...
Tour Code = VESSEL
Tour Name = Tutorial Vessel Resources
Operator = Tutorial Company
Schedule = 09:00am
Click on the Resource/Price Settings and type 40 in Default Max Pax...
Save the day tour. This is all that can be configured before any of the other components are created and configured.
Creating TUTACCOM - Component
TUTACCOM is the component that will handle the accommodation resource of Tutorial Vessel. Availability will be set per bed rather than the previous component, which was set per passenger, to ensure no passengers are allocated to the same bed. Go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> New Accom...
Tour Code = TUTACCOM
Tour Name = Tutorial Vessel Accommodation
Operator = Tutorial Company
Save the day tour. ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered. Re-enter the tour and go to the Advanced tab...

Click Price Matrix...
Click Edit Basis...
Click on the basis named Standard and in the Basis field, change Standard to Twin Bed...
Click on the "Standard" sub-basis or create it if it is not there. Set the "Pax per room" to one, because you are selling this by the bed and not room.
