What Is The Product?

Products are defined by how they are set up and have many different options, configurations and structures that give the user almost limitless capabilities on how the structure of ResPax is maintained. Every ResPax package database is unique in it's own way and because of this, creating a generalised product to go through in the tutorial is not possible.

This tutorial will explain what the product is that will be created by the end before going through the different steps. Please Note: If more information is needed regarding products, please refer to ResPax Examples where more complex and defined tours are available for study and download.

Structure Overview

The product that will be created in this tutorial is a standard day tour called the "Tutorial Experience" that gives a sight seeing tour of the city. The tour runs every day starting at 09:00am and can only hold 30 passengers at a time. There are no components attached, prices are $100 per Adult and $50 per Child and passengers need to make their own way to the day tour's start location.

Creating the Day Tour

To access a blank day tour screen, go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours and click on Tour Setup Wizard...

Tour Creation Rule No.1: Four fields need to be filled before any other and then the tour needs to be saved.

In the blank day tour screen, type TUTEXP in the Tour Code field and type Tutorial Experience in the Tour Name field...

Select Test Organisation as the Operator...

Select Test Organisation as the Owner and click Next...

Select Day Tour as the Tour Type and click Next...

Enter 09:00, tick Default to set this time as the default time and tick Enabled to enable the tour. Click Next...

Enter Standard as the Basis and Subbasis Names, ensure Enabled and Default are ticked on the Basis and Subbasis and Options Included is ticked for the Basis. Click Next...

Click on Finish to save this day tour.

ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered.
Find TUTEXP in the list and click once to open...

Leave the Notification as None and leave the Price Matrix Type as Pax, Basis and SubBasis...

Click on the Resource/Price Settings tab and set 30 in the Default Max Pax field. This sets the maximum number of available seats at any given time unless otherwise specified through the Resources section...

Save the day tour...

Setting the Prices

Find TUTEXP in the list and click once to open, click on Prices. This section shows the currently listed prices attributed to the tour...

Click Set Range to set the new prices of the tour...

Set the From Date range and To Date range...

Set Cost as 0, Sell as 100 and Levy as 0...

Leave Currency as AUD - Australian Dollars and select Adult in the Type drop down box...

Click Set Range and ResPax will save the range to the tour...

Result:

Follow the same procedure again but change the Sell to 50 and select the Type to be Child. Once the range has been set, the price matrix should look like below...

Close the Price Matrix screen and Save the day tour. The tour is now ready to be used in new bookings.
