Creating the Components

Index

Overview

The next step in creating a tour package is creating the components and the top level package. These components need to be created in a way that reflects each resource.

This tutorial will create and configure the different components required for the tour including the top level package. Please Note: The components being created are based on the previous tutorial that planned and structured the package. For more information, please refer Planning the tour package.

Creating OW4D1N - Top Level Package

OW4D1N is the top level package and tour code that reservationists will use to book the tour. To create the tour, go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> Tour Setup Wizard...

ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered. Re-enter the tour and go to the Advanced tab...

In this tab, make sure the following are enabled:

Click Prices...

Click Set Range...

Enter the From Date and To Date...

Set Cost as 0, Sell as 250 and Levy as 0...

Select AUD Australian Dollars under Currency, Adult under Type, Standard under Basis and Standard under SubBasis...

Click Set Range and click on the General tab

Click on Save Changes to save the day tour. This is all that can be configured before any of the other components are created and configured.

Creating CLASS - Component

CLASS is the first two days of Pool and Theory Lessons. Rather than create two components, one for each day, ResPax is able to use one component with two different bases. Go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> Tour Setup Wizard...

Save the day tour. ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered. Re-enter the tour and go to the Advanced tab...

In this tab, make sure the following are enabled:

Click Bases...

Double click on the Basis Name Standard to edit the Standard Basis...

Change Standard to Day 1 in the Basis field and click Save...

Click Add New in the Basis screen...

Enter Day 2 in the Basis field and click on Add New...

Enter Standard into Subbasis Name and click on Save...

Re-enter the subbasis by clicking on Standard...

Check Default and click Save...

Click Save in the Basis screen and close the Edit Basis screen...

Click on the General tabl and click on Save Changes to save all changes to the day tour. This is all that can be configured before any of the other components are created and configured.

Creating VESSEL - Component

VESSEL is the component used to represent Tutorial Vessel which takes the passengers to the reef and back. As the direction of travel does not mean anything in the ResPax database, one component can be used as the resources for both trips, to the reef and to the shore. This component will, also, have the availability set to it as the availability of the tour is only limited by how many Tutorial Vessel can hold.

Click on the Resource/Price Defaults and type 40 in Default Max Pax...

Click on Save Changes. This is all that can be configured before any of the other components are created and configured.

Creating TUTACCOM - Component

TUTACCOM is the component that will handle the accommodation resource of Tutorial Vessel. Availability will be set per bed rather than the previous component, which was set per passenger, to ensure no passengers are allocated to the same bed. Go to Maintenance -> Edit/Add Tours -> Tour Setup Wizard...

Change Standard to Twin Bed in the Basis Name, change the Pax Per Room to 1, click Next and the Finish to exit...

ResPax will now go off and prefill a number of tables behind the scenes. Now the rest of the information for the day tour can be entered. Re-enter the tour and go to the Advanced tab...

In this tab, make sure the following are enabled:

Click on the Resource/Price Defaults and type 40 in Default Max Pax...

Please Note: This is set as a safety measure as this availability has already been set in the VESSEL component.

Click Resources and click on Set Range...

Enter the From Date and To Date as shown below and ensure the Basis is Twin Bed and SubBasis as Standard...

Type 20 under Max Rooms, 0 under Expiry and click on Set Range...

Click on the General tab and click on Save Changes to save all modifications made to the accommodation. All components have now been created and are ready to be connected to bus routes and the top level package. Please refer Setting up the package
