Overview
This HowTo document is designed to show you the basics of the inline editor and making a typical booking with this feature.
Basics of the Inline Editor
Choosing an adhoc code in the booking header and having the appropriate database setting will make the inline editor available to the user.
Any top level tour code that will be selected in the inline editor MUST be set as ticketable in that tour's Maintenance -> Advanced screen.
There are many different editors for components in ResPax, accessible from the Show/Hide button at the top of the component screen.
ResPax saves the users settings so that they will be presented with the same screen again next time they select the components tab in a booking.
The inline editor will open with a new component line waiting for data to be entered, default component date will be the header tourdate, and the cursor sitting in the Tour Code column ready to type.
The following actions are valid in the inline editor.

Package Inclusion Header - Non-Ticketable |

A simple example of this basic booking structure is as follows ..
|

BC |
|
|
|
FDBC |
|
|
|
CNSGIBC |
|
|
GICNSBC |
|
|
PERMIT |
|
|
GBB (adhoc) |
In the example above the FDBC package header is a ticketable item that will product printed tickets, the GBB (adhoc) is a ticketable item that will add an extra dollar amount to the booking and will turn up on the ticket and the CNSGIBC/PERMIT/GICNSBC will hold availability on the boats and permit and print inclusions on the ticket for the FDBC.
BC is described as the Adhoc Header and has no function other than reporting (possibly).
The money in the booking is held at the header level but the prices are built up from all the items in the inline editor screen. Prices and availability are built up in a composite way in the inline editor and prices are summarised at the booking header.
Payments are then defined in the payment screen independently of the inline editor components.
Ticket Count is displayed as the pax total in the header and represents the number of passengers traveling on the booking.
Printable tickets are defined as the number of pax booked on a ticketable Package Header Inclusion component.
Making a Typical Booking Using the Inline Editor
The following instruction step through a typical BC booking using the quickest keystrokes to make the booking.
In the Reservations menu click on New Booking.
In the new reservation header enter the following information and tab along to the next field ..
AGENTCODE – type it if you know it, F2 and start type the agent name if you don’t, <enter> to select the agent name
Agent Ref – type the appropriate reference
TourDate - DDMMYY format if the fastest and most accurate
TOURCODE – type an ADHOC code for use with the inline editor
The screen now changes to suit the adhoc format of booking..
F6 to enter the inline editor (on the Components tab) ..
The editor assumes the tickets will begin travel on the same date as the header.
Type the ticket tour code and <enter> to accept the code and move to the next field. All the default values for that tourcode will now be displayed in the ticket line.
<Enter> to accept the default time or <CTRL + Enter> to edit the time and use the Up/Down arrows to select a new time. <F2> to see a list of possible times. UP/DOWN arrows ..
.. or <F2> and choose from the list...
<Enter> or ‘Done’ with your mouse to select the value. Then <enter> to accept the time value and move to the next field.
Enter the number of pax for this ticket by typing a number in the field, then <enter> to accept the value and move to the next pax type.
Once the pax are done you can use the Tab key to move quickly to the fare basis.
Use <CTRL-Enter> to edit the fare basis field then use either the Up/Down arrows to select a basis or <F2> to select from a list.
Similarly the fare SubBasis can be selected using the same method.
At this point in a very simple booking you may be ready to complete the booking.
At any time during the edit of the ticket, if the booking is already complete because the pax are traveling on the default tour setting then you can immediately use the <F10> keys to save the ticket and move to the next ticket.
<F10> to save the ticket (the booking itself is not yet saved nor is any part of it committed to the database). Note that saved tickets are BLACK where unsaved ones are BLUE.
To add another ticket to the booking either use the <Insert> key or the right click menu on the ticket line.
Using the <Insert> key will add another row immediately. The right click menu offers a number of choices including copying the current row which can then be altered slightly for the next ticket, say the same tour but for 1 pax doing GBB where the other pax have all chosen to snorkel.
The example above shows 1 Ad and 2 Ch on an FDBC with snorkel and 1 Ad on an FDBC with GBB. The rates are the same but the inclusions on the ticket will be different for each ticket type.
This sample booking is now ready to be completed with pax details and payment information.
Use the <F3> key or the mouse to select the Tour Value/ Payment/ Collection tab to make the final entries before committing the booking to the database.
The PAX NAME and marketing detail fields must be filled in before the booking can be committed.
If other information is needed the Advanced and Pax Contact Details tabs can be used for further detail.
The payment lines in ResPax are used to describe exactly how all the money in the booking is going to be collected. Currently the example booking is showing a Pax Total of $300 and payment total of POB (pay on board) of $300.
Payments are added that reflect money collection then the booking and the booking is then committed.
