Coach Transfers
Index
Overview
This example will demonstrate a typical coach operation between two cities and servicing the towns in between. The example will demonstrate how it can be booked on-line by the passengers, either single or return.
Structure
Our example bus will run between Bangkok, Chumphon and Surat Thani. We split the route into sectors, N100 and N200 for the northern run and S100 and S200 for the southern run. These sectors will be the actual seat availability on the buses.
Set-up sectors
Tour Setup Wizard -> follow these steps.
Locate the tour and double click to open it. Select the Tour Location Start = Bangkok and End = Chumphon. If not set-up yet, create Bangkok, Chumphon and Surat Thani by clicking on Edit/Add.
1. Tick "Show in Availability" - this sector will then display on the availability screen
and
2. Tick "Component Only" - this sector will then not turn up in the F2 tour drop-down list
Do the same for sectors S200, N100 and N200.
Set-up the routes and the pick-up and drop-offs
The bus can potentially pick up and drop off passengers at a few locations in each city. We will demonstrate with only one location in each city.
Edit / Add Tours -> Tour Setup Wizard Tour Code = BUSBKKCJM
Tour name = Bus Bangkok - Chumphon
Operator = Test Organisation
Owner = Test Organisation
Tour Type = Pickup
Departure Time = 09:00
Open the route again. Tick "Disable Availability check" - Remember the sectors (S100, S200, etc.) are holding the availability.
Click on Locations
Click on "New Stop" and create the 1st stop. If you had more than one pick-ups/drop-offs, this is where you would set them up with the time increment adjusted.
Click on "Edit Locations" and "Add New" to add your pick-up and drop-off locations.
Drag and drop the correct pick-up location on STOP 1. Click "Done" and "Save" the tour.
We need routes and pick-ups for both directions. So we end up with 4 routes. BUSBKKCJM, BUSCJMURT, BUSURTCJM AND BUSCJMBKK.
Set-up Same as Parent routes and pickups
We also need some "special" routes and pick-ups to control the return bus manifest. Create two routes called SAPP (Same as Parent Pickup) and SAPD (Same as Parent Dropoff) with just one pick-up location on each: SAPP has "Same as Parent Pickup" location and SAPD has "Same as Parent Dropoff" location
Tour Code = SAPP
Tour name = Same as Parent Pickup
Operator = Test Organisation
Owner = Test Organisation
Tour Type = Pickup
Departure Time = 00:00
Do the same for "Same as Parent Dropoff" route and add a "Same as Parent Dropoff" location
Add these two routes to each one of the sectors. So for example S100: Add SAPP and SAPD to both Pickup and Dropoff. You have to "Save Changes" and click on "Routes" again to see SAPP and SAPD for the 2nd "drag and drop."
Do the same for all the other sectors: S200, N100 and N200.
Create return package tours
To be able to quickly set the date for the return trip, we need to package up the return sectors into one code. For our example, we only have 2 sectors, but imagine servicing 5 or more towns. That would involve changing dates on 5 or more return sectors. Impractical and error prone.
Tour Setup Wizard
Tour Code = RETBKK
Tour name = Return to Bangkok
Operator = Test Organisation
Owner = Test Organisation
Tour Type = Day Tour
Departure Time = 00:00
Click "Disable Availability Check", "Component Only" and "Can have Components"
Click on the Bases tab and edit the Standard basis to read: Return from Surat Thani
Click on "Add New" and add a new basis called "Return from Chumphon"
Add a new subbasis called "Standard"
Click on the "Components" button. And edit the "All Basis and Subbasis" entry to read "Return from Surat Thani" Tick the Basis and select "Return from Surat Thani" from the drop-down list. Click "Add New Daytour"
Add the N100 sector. Make the sequence 30 - the two southern sectors (S100 and S200) were 10 and 20. Make the offset 0 day. Make the default pickup "Same as Parent Dropoff" ie the pax will be picked up from the same place as he was dropped off on the southern leg in the booking parent tour.
Add the N200 sector. Make the default dropoff "Same as Parent Pickup" ie the pax will be dropped off at the same place as he was picked up on the southern leg in the booking parent tour.
Follow the same logic and create a package set called: "Return from Chumphon" with component N200. See below for default pickup and dropoff settings.
Set the tour flavour to RTAD (Return Transfer on Alternate Date)
Add the SAPP ans SAPD routes indicated as below.
Follow the same logic and create return package tours for Chumphon and Surat Thani as well.
Create top level tour (the product)
Create a new day tour called Transfers from Bangkok for example from the Tour Setup Wizard.
Tour Code = TFRBKK
Tour name = Transfers from Bangkok
Operator = Test Organisation
Owner = Test Organisation
Tour Type = Day Tour
Departure Time = 09:00
Set no availability check and can have components. Add a bus route:
Add the Bangkok to Chumphon route for pickups and Chumphon to Surat Thani route for dropoff. If your drop-offs are different to your normal pick-ups, bundle them together in separate routes called Southern Dropoffs and Northern Dropoffs for example. Use that as drop-off routes instead.
Create the correct basis and subbasises.
Let us build the package sets:
The drop-off is the same as the top level drop-off.
Add the return package set:
Set-up the price matrix as per normal:
Job done!
