Working with the Product Catalog

Overview
The Product Catalog is the main menu in ResPax TourDesk. From here the booking agent can view operators' products listed either by region, or simply listed by operator. The Product Catalog lists products against each operator, each product listing showing code, description, package options, availability for a 5 day range and add to cart facility. The Product Catalog also offers facilities to search, manage favourites and make free form bookings. This tutorial is designed to show the key features and basic functionality of the Product Catalog menu.
Choosing a Product
When selecting a product to sell to a passenger the two main questions are:
The Product Catalog has the answers to those two questions.
What Is It?
To find out more information about a tour, in this example FDBC - Full Day Tour to Green Island...
Click on the tour to open the Product Information screen where more tour details are provided...
Please Note: For more information about the Product Info screen, refer to Finding More Tour Information.
In this screen, the Price Matrix, Availability Grid and Add to Cart options are also available.
When Is It Available?
Tour availability can be accessed from several different locations...
Product Catalog - Availability Grid - here the user is able to quickly skim down the tour listings and find a 5 day spread of what is available and what is not...
Product Catalog - Show All - here the user can find a detailed availability grid on any dates for a specific tour...
Product Information - Availability Grid - here the user, after finding out more detail on the tour, can find an availability grid for any dates required...
By Region Tab
The By Region tab in the Product Catalog groups tour operators by their location and shows them together in the list...
There are several ways to filter the tour operators in each region. In the desired region, operators can be included or excluded from showing in the list. Tick the check box next to the tour operator's name to allow them to show in the list...
Then click on the button Show Selected
Only tour operators selected to show will be visible for that region...
To show all the operators again click on the button Show All...
By Operator Tab
The By Operator tab in the Product Catalog lists tour operators individually. To choose the desired operator select the operator from the drop down box...
TourDesk will then bring the operator and products into the window...
The user can now choose to minimise this operator by ticking the check box next to the operator's name and clicking the button Collapse Selected...
Now the collapsed operator will look like this...
To show the products again select the operator and click Expand Selected...
Click Remove Selected to remove the chosen operator.
Click Remove All to clear the By Operator tab of all operators showing.
Product Search Tab
The Product Search tab is a tool that allows the user to search for specific keywords, titles, tourcodes or operator names. Enter the key word into the search field...
Then select a Region/Location...
Click Search and the search engine will bring back a list of tours that meets the search criteria from which a specific product can be chosen.
Free Form Tab
The Free Form bookings tool enables tours that do not exist in the Product Catalog in TourDesk (ie. Tours that are not linked to a ResPax system or tours that cannot be booked on the web). The Free Form tab can only be used to book product with operators who exist in TourDesk. Select a Region/Location...
Then select an Operator...
Click Add Freeform to your Cart and this will add the specified free form tour to the current booking cart.
