Overview
This example will demonstrate a possible method to set-up a reservation system for a hotel/accommodation style business.
Accommodation details
This hotel runs as follows:
(We have selected a per room pricing that is more difficult to implement - per pax pricing is very straight forward)
- Single Rooms x 5 - room #'s A1 to A5 - cost $100 per room
- Double Rooms x 5 - room #'s B1 to B5 - cost $150 per room (minimum 2 pax per room - for sole occupancy book 2 pax)
- Quad Share Rooms x 5 - room #'s C1 to C5 - cost $200 per room (minimum 4 pax per room - for sole/2/3 occupancy book 4 pax)
The Set-up
There will be two layers:
1. A normal "day" tour with prices and amount of nights called HOTEL - Hotel California
2. An accommodation tour as a component of HOTEL, called ROOMS - Rooms for Hotel California
Accommodation component
In Maintenance click "New Accom"
Fill in the Tour code, description, operator and financial owner. Click on the "Advanced" tab and select "Use New Price Matrix" - click on "Price Matrix"
Click on "Edit Basis"
Click on "Add New"
Change the "Standard" basis to "Single" and add a sub-basis called "A1" with a "pax per room" = 1
Continue with adding sub-basises until A5.
Add the double and quad rooms as new basis with rooms B1 - B5 and C1 - C5 as the respective sub-basis.
Set some availability on the rooms:
Do that for all the rooms. Do not close the screen, just change the basis and sub-basis to do this nice and quickly.
Top level tour
Add a new day tour:
Remove the availability check on this level (the availability is sitting on the component). Enable components.
Put the fare basis and sub-basis combinations in. Put in the normal range of duration of nights that you might encounter.
Enter the price matrices:
Notice that we sell it by the room, not per pax.
Next, we build the package sets. Create new ones for each fare.
Add the components to the package sets:
This is how a typical booking will look like.
